Maezaki Prefecture (前崎県 Maezaki Ken?) is a prefecture in the north end Naoshima Island of Nakahara. The capital is the city of Maezaki while the largest city is Kizawa.

History

Maezaki Prefecture was part of Sekigahara Province and eastern section of Kashiwaba Province prior to the abolishment of han system. Maezaki was known as the gate toward the Northern Island from the capital region of Meishin and later Nakahara.

During the Sengoku period of Nakahara, Sekigahara was under the rule of Koizumi Clan while Kashiwaba mainly controlled by 2 clans, Moriyama Clan in the western part and Koizumi Clan in the eastern part. In 1567 Maeda Takayuki started his movement toward the capital, defeating Koizumi during the Siege of Kosugi and later cleared his path toward the capital making Maezaki under the rule of Maeda Clan.
