Shizugawa Prefecture (志津川県 Shizugawa Ken?) is a prefecture in the northwest end of Kanto Region in Maejima Island, Nakahara. The capital is the city of Shizugawa.

History

Shizugawa was part of Sekita Province prior to the Nakamura Restoration in 19th century.

During the Sengoku period, Shizugawa ruled by the Kijima Clan before the Battle of Tsuwara in 1560 where Shinozaki Clan from the Sagami Province attack Kijima and taking over Tsuwara Castle. With the fall of Tsuwara castle, Shinozaki Clan be the largest power in Kanto Region, leaving the previous largest Hojo Clan to the second position.

In 1593, Takahashi Clan which continue the mission of Maeda Clan to unify Nakahara eliminate the treating Shinozaki Clan domination in Shizugawa and pushed Shinozaki Clan back to Sagami Province.

Geography

Shizugawa located in northwestern end of Maejima Island, the largest island of Nakahara. It's separated from Kagoshima Prefecture by Shizuku Strait in the north of the prefecture.
