Nakagawa Domain

The Nakagawa Domain (中川藩 Nakagawa han ) was a Nakaharan domain of the Shizuku period, with its holdings centered in modern-day Kanazawa-ku, Mikawa. It is associated with the province of Yamashiro, Kinai and Tsushiro in modern-day Mikawa Prefecture, Kinai Prefecture and Fukuhara Prefecture on the island of Naoshima.
In the han system, Nakagawa was a political and economic abstraction based on periodic cadastral surveys and projected agricultural yields. In other words, the domain was defined in terms of kokudaka, not land area. This was different from the feudalism of the West.
Nakagawa Domain was the richest in the nation with 1,200,000 koku second only to Miyawaki Shogunate holdings.
